The Whitegate Development Corporation is managed by an independent expertise-based Board of Directors. Board members are appointed by the Minister with responsibility for finance with the approval of cabinet. The Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson are appointed for three years while all other members are appointed for two years. The day to day affairs of the Corporation are managed by the Chief Executive Officer.
Presently the Board consists of the following individuals.
Thomas Williams (Chairman) - Mr. Williams brings many years of executive management experience from both the public and private sectors to the Whitegate Development Corporation Board. As Managing Director of the St. Kitts Scenic Railway Thomas has a critical understanding of the tourism sector and the development process in St. Kitts and Nevis.
He has served as an Executive Director of several Statutory Corporations including the Urban Development Corporation, developer of Port Zante.
Victor Williams (Deputy Chair) - As a local business man Victor has held many positions in civic and private sector organizations. In particular, through his firm, Williams Architecture, Victor brings some 25 years of development experience to the Board. As an Architect and Planner he has an intimate understanding of the development landscape in St. Kitts and Nevis and the wider Caribbean.
Victor holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Architecture at the New York Institute of Technology.
Ellis Hazel (CEO) - Mr. Hazel holds a Masters Degree in Urban Planning and Development from the University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and an Undergraduate Degree in Geography from the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, Jamaica.
He served as Director of Physical Planning and Environment in the Ministry of Sustainable Development from 2005 to 2007 and as Chief Physical Planner from 2001-2005. He served as Executive Secretary to the Development Control and Planning Board from 2002-2007.
Marilyn Johnson - Ms. Johnson brings several years of finance, financial control and investment management experience to the Whitegate Development Corporation. Her training and expertise together with her dynamism have allowed her to work effectively with her peers.
Marilyn currently holds the position of Assistant Director of Finance and Investments at the St. Christopher and Nevis Social Security Board.
Dr. Hermia Morton-Anthony - Dr. Anthony currently holds the position of Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Housing, Agriculture, Fisheries and Cooperatives in the Federal Government of St. Kitts and Nevis. She has over 20 years experience in senior managerial positions in the private and public sectors.
She has held the Chairmanship of the St. Christopher and Nevis Accreditation Council, Executive Member of the Board of Governors of IESALC; Member of the Committee for a Common Higher Education Space, EULAC; Executive Member, UWICampus Council and has held membership in a number of community organizations and NGO’s.
She is a Sociologist and holds certificates in Education Policy and Reform and Agricultural Policy and Rural Development. She is an advocate in the areas of social equity, rural development and social transformation.
